GuestThe summer has come and gone and with it come cloudy mornings over Irvine and a much smaller crowd at Cars and Coffee. The clouds are kind of a pain when it comes to lighting. But the smaller crowds we don’t mind so much as it becomes easier to take shots and there’s less douchebagery.
This past Saturday started off feeling kinda mellow. We had mostly the usual suspects show up with some not so how worthy cars sprinkled in. But we didn’t mind the Macy’s cars this time since there where plenty of open slots in the show lot. I mean we had a contingency of Sunbeam Tigers and Detomaso Pantera’s show up. There where also a ton of customs present, some tasteful and some not so much. There was an Iso Griffo present along with an Iso Rivolta, a very very clean Saab 900 Turbo, a 1930’s Daimler Limousine and then…it arrived….the 1952 Ferrari Mexico Spyder.
What an incredible beauty of a car! The blue and white paint scheme was just absolutely stunning. The car just stopped me in my tracks and I couldn’t walk away. I felt like a kid in Disneyland seeing Mickey for the first time. Everything about the car was finished perfectly, and best of all it was driven in. It was no trailer queen. This car was built to be driven in 1952 and it still is. This car was built to be raced in the Carrera Panamericana, hence it’s name. It is 1 of 4 Mexico Spyders, which certainly makes it a very rare sight. Having this car show up at Cars and Coffee is the equivalent of having a party at your house and having Scarlett Johansson show up.
But I’m being clingy now when it comes to the Mexico Spyder. Here are this weeks picks of the pics:
