Honda Cars India Limited or HCIL, with its long line of cars has been expanding its market share quite rapidly. The Mobilio is the car that marked Honda’s entry into the world of big cars which is the most popular segment at present times. The Mobilio was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014 and was later officially launched the following July. Ranging between Rs 6.49 andRs 10.86 lakhs, Honda Mobilio is truly a value for money with superior mileage, power, spaciousness and impressive exterior styling. Driving a large and unwieldy 7-seater around the crowded cities everyday can be quite bothersome and this makes modern day compact SUVs and MPVs greatly significant. Mobilio belongs to this new breed of midsize MPVs which have a monocoque construction under their skin, which are a size smaller than traditional body-on-frame UVs like the Xylo, Tavera and Innova. Mobilio is also lighter, incredibly car-like to drive and offer superior road manners. However one drawback of its monocoque construction is that it will be not as tough as the traditional UVsfor carrying loads and for driving on rough roads. All said it is a trendy car and visibly looks longer and taller than most other cars in this segment.

The interiors of Honda Mobilio look definitely comfortable and plush in a black and beige colour scheme finished by silver trims. The seat fabric and other plastics used are of good quality. It has a three row configuration. The first two rows have ample legroom and headroom while the third row of seats is a bit restricted. But they are just perfect for children or else can be folded away to make way for extra luggage. It has a boot space of 223 litres which can be extended to 521 litres by folding away the third row seats. There are also smart storage spaces throughout the cabin.

Mobilio is also packed with voluminous safety and comfort features. Even the base models have features like ABS and EBD, while high end variants also have keyless entry, a touch screen infotainment system with USB slot in the Glove box. AC with heater, front/rear power windows, day/night IRVM, tilt steering, central locking, ECO lamp, head light off reminder, arm rests, ignition key reminder and two interior cabin lightsas some other comfort features.

The Mobilio is available in two engine options- 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engines. These engines impresses with an ARAI certified mileage of 17.3 kmpl and 24.2 kmpl respectively. The petrol unit delivers 119 bhp of power and 145 Nm of torque whereas the diesel unit delivers 100 bhp of power and 200 Nm of torque. Both are paired with a 5 speed manual gearbox.
